Deer season approaching
As the general gun deer season approaches, many hunters wait with anticipation of getting out in the field. Some folks look forward to big racks, some to the solitude of sitting in the stand, & most the camaraderie of being out in the great outdoors with friends & family. The deer camp always has many stories told, some made up, & always a new one comes from the weekend of hunting.
Loading up the truck always brings excitement & anxiousness along with packing it with as much stuff as will fit. When my son or daughter can go with me, it adds a whole new excitement. This year I hope to take Candy, my girlfriend, on her first real hunt, so I can share with her what I get out of it. She went once last year but did not hunt that long & this year things are set up better & our outlook is good. Hunting on our own ranch has a great deal of satisfaction & gratification. This being our second year to hunt, I feel like this is the year we will finally take something.
I was really hoping that my son could be the first to take a deer on our place. My father, though he enjoys being out there, doesn't really want to shoot one, but can't wait for my son or I to do so. We have 3 feeders out, two cameras, & two stands. We are planning on putting out some rye grass in the next week or so, as it is getting cooler & rainy. It's getting late & I will finish this story tomorrow, so stay tuned & come back.
